Job Summary
The Library Paraprofessional supports the daily operations of the school library, ensuring students and staff have access to resources, technology, and a welcoming learning environment. This role assists with circulation, organization, and instructional support while promoting literacy and a love of reading among students.
Key Responsibilities
Library Operations

Assist with circulation of materials (check-in/check-out, shelving, inventory)

Maintain organization of library collections (print and nonprint)

Assist with processing new materials (labeling, covering, catalog support)

Monitor and maintain library equipment and technology

Help manage overdue notices and lost/damaged materials
Student & Staff Support

Assist students in locating books and resources

Provide supervision and guidance for students in the library

Collaborate with teachers to support classroom needs and instructional activities
Instructional Support

Help prepare materials and displays for lessons and events

Support small groups or individual students as directed

Reinforce digital citizenship and responsible technology use
Library Environment

Create and maintain engaging displays that promote reading and learning

Ensure the library remains a clean, organized, and welcoming space

Support school-wide literacy initiatives, book fairs, and reading programs
Administrative Duties

Perform clerical tasks such as data entry, filing, and record keeping

Assist with scheduling and communication related to library use

Support special projects and events as assigned
Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or higher preferred

Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred

Basic technology skills (Google Workspace, library systems, or willingness to learn)
