Primary Purpose: The Reading RTI Teacher will support teachers in the continuous improvement process. The RTI Teacher will provide job-embedded professional development and procedural support. RTI Teacher will also be responsible for efficiently and effectively managing an Intervention class. The RTI teacher will be responsible for managing campus data and implementing targeted intervention for students through the general education classroom and pullout reading intervention programs. This position will manage and place all students into targeted groups for campus-wide intervention times which are built into the schedule and monitor the success of each student.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
Demonstrated competency in the RTI process and research-based intervention strategies
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) in the reading content area in grade K-5
- Demonstrated effectiveness in providing current and innovative researched-based instructional practices
- Previous coaching or teacher leadership expertise
- Knowledge of campus-level RTI activities
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing a plan for intervention and monitoring the progress to determine the effectiveness of the intervention
- Experience conducting observations and providing feedback to staff
- Demonstrated competence in communicating with parents, staff, and students
- Ability to design and deliver quality professional development
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing

Experience:
Minimum 5 years of successful teaching experience at the elementary level and/or secondary level preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's RTI Program Expectations and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual students.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with general and special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for RTI students.
- Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and assign work to teachers, instructional aide(s), and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.
- Understanding of the RtI process for the elementary level
- Experience in evaluating and analyzing data

- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
